Carnivore
What better than kicking off our honeymoon in Africa with "eat-till-you-surrender" dinner buffet at Carnivore? 😄
We were fetched by our guide at the Nairobi airport and transfered to the Savora Panafric hotel. After freshening up, we were all set for our first meal!
The drive to Carnivore was about half an hour.
At the entrance, we were welcomed by the mouthwatering barbecue smell! We couldn't wait to get inside. Passing through the hallway, a large barbecue area awaited us.
We were seated and the waiter explained how it worked. The price included soup (cream corn soup for us), unlimited barbecued meat and dessert. He brought us a wooden turning set that had two layers - salad at the bottom and sauces on top. There's a sauce for every type of meat - after a while it's difficult to tell which was for what 😆
Also, there's a Carnivore flag on top of the set. It's an indicator of whether you still want to be served meat or not. If the flag is standing right up, like how it is in the picture, it means your stomach is still available. When you're full, you'll put down the flag - the waiter said it's called "surrender" 😅
If your flag is standing up, the staff would approach you with various types of bbq meat. When they approach, they would tell you what it is and basically you can still choose whether you want it or not (or if you only want a little bit or want a lot!). We tried almost everything - ostrich, crocodile meatballs, lamb rump, beef, chicken thigh, chicken wing, sausages, pork ribs etc. Pork ribs were our absolute favourite that night!
For dessert, you can order from the menu. We had ice cream and fresh fruit.
This is the menu. It was 3,600 Kenyan Shillings per person (around USD 36). Not cheap but it's worth it.
Apparently there's vegetarian buffet! Not sure what it actually means when you're in Carnivore...😆
It was not our first time dining in Carnivore, but this one was special. All in all, it was a great dinner experience and we would recommend anyone visiting Nairobi to try it.
