Lake Manyara Serena Lodge
Honeymoon - Day 9 & 10
Leaving the Lake Manyara National Park, we headed to our lodge - Lake Manyara Serena Lodge. It's just around 10 minutes drive from the national park.
Both Mr. Husband and I really really like this lodge and would strongly recommend this to the visitors of Lake Manyara (especially couples). It's the best that we've had in Africa so far. Not luxurious but unique and nice. Comfortable and cozy yet with African characteristics! We just fell in love with it as soon as we were checked in!
Our room is on the second floor of a two storey African style building. It has a King bed with mosquito net. The balcony is facing the lake and can see part of the pool from there.
The bathroom has shower and got very hot water. I find the sink a bit high though - but surely that's not because I'm short. Lol. Apart from the usual bathroom amenities, the lodge also provides mosquito repellent wipes. How thoughtful!
We walked around in the lodge and enjoyed every bit of it. The paths with trees on the side, the outdoor pool with a pool bar the overlooks Lake Manyara, the serene surrounding...I wish we could stay here longer. Then, we went to the gift shop. It didn't have a lot of items but they're quite nice. We bought a bag for mom and a pair of handmade earrings for me. The staff was very friendly (unlike most of the people we came across). They accepted US Dollars for payment and were able to give us the change in US dollars. We requested for small notes and she also accommodated that. It solved our problem of not having small notes...
When it's dinner time, we put on our jacket and went to the restaurant. It's another "wow"! The restaurant is nicely decorated. Exactly the kind of style I like!
Soup was served to us at the table. The rest was buffet. They served international and local dishes. Mr. Husband especially liked the salads and bbq - there's outdoor bbq station that offered beef, chicken and sausage. Overall we're very satisfied. Mr. Husband even said it could be a good venue for a small wedding.
The next morning we got up rather late (like at 8am) as we don't have a lot to do today. For once we don't need to rush during breakfast.
I don't really want to leave here...so reluctant to check out...But, you know what, our next stop is Zanzibar!! Yay!
