Windhoek, Namibia

Windhoek, Namibia

Leaving Cape Town, we went to a new country - Namibia!

We arrived in Windhoek (btw this airport has a luggage belt :p) and picked up our rental car - the only rental car ever that is exactly the same as the one we booked online Haha!

The car rental guy looked at our address and asked where Singapore was. We said it's somewhere between Indonesia and Malaysia (those are bigger countries near Singapore). Then he asked if it's in Hong Kong or China?!?! 😆  I don't know how a Singaporean would take that...

The car rental guy gave us some complimentary maps. They turned out to be quite useful.

The city is 43km away and we were driving on paved roads (not taking things for granted alright).

What did we do in Windhoek? Not much. Apart from doing massage at the hotel (very reasonable by the way), we also went to some sightseeing spots, such as Christuskirche, which I called "gingerbread house", and a local craft market.

The craft market was obviously meant for tourists but we bought quite some souvenirs there because it was our last country in Africa. It has quite a number of stores and they sell a variety of things. The prices...were naturally on the higher end...But they accept credit cards and other currencies like USD and Euro.

Well we also went to the mall near our hotel, mainly to get vitamins in the supermarket as I was falling sick. It was quite an expedition! Haha, the combination of us attracted unnecessary attention...and I was worried that there would again be people following us like in Cape Town...(I love it when people follow us on our blog, instagram or Facebook, but physically following us and it's in Africa...? Hmmmm...)

When it's dinner time, Mr. B asked me what I craved for. I said...spaghetti bolognese Haha. Then I asked him the same question. He said...Chinese food 😂 What's happened to us? Lol

We attempted to go out for dinner after googling a few places. However, we couldn't find any spots that we're comfortable with parking our car at (no, it didn't feel safe, even for Mr. B). So, we went to the restaurant at the hotel. Naturally I ordered spaghetti bolognese :) The spaghetti was overly overcooked (way over just overcooked) but I was happy regardless.

Anyway, it's time to get out of the city and see some nature and animals again!
